Nooon – a Search Engine to surface disability data
Amidst the rise of popular AI Chatbots, Search Engine systems remain relevant for marginalized knowledge ecosystems. Nooon is a Search Engine that was designed to meet the specific needs of disability data.
In this webinar, we showcase Nooon’s bold vision for rethinking digital accessibility and information equity. Designed using experiential research by and with disabled users, Nooon envisions a framework for sustainable, user-owned search architectures. Stemming from the OpenWebIndex, it transforms the act of “searching” into an inclusive, participatory, and privacy-first experience for communities historically marginalized online.
The project was brought to life by Noor Ahsan Fathima, who has been working at CERN on Open Web Search infrastructures and will soon contribute to the International Labour Organization’s Statistics department on disability labour data.
The Webinar will be conducted via Big Blue Button.
